Accessibility

What we do

• Readable text: one clear typeface across the site, no text smaller than 12px, and pure black or white text for contrast.
• Light and dark: every page works in both, and remembers your choice.
• Keyboard: menus, previews, switches and panels open, move and close with the keyboard, with a visible focus ring.
• Screen readers: buttons, tables, charts and previews carry names and descriptions; decorative pictures are hidden from screen readers.
• Less motion: if your device asks for less motion, animations stop and show their finished picture.
• Phones: pages fit the screen without sideways scrolling; wide tables scroll inside their own frame.
• Print: reports print in black on white with a page number on every page.

Known limits

• Charts are visual; their figures are also given in the tables beside them and in the Excel downloads.
• Some browsers do not print page numbers in the page margin; the report’s own header still shows its source.
• PIInneh is in its preview edition, and we are still testing with assistive technologies.
